This morning, Gramma helped me into my Maraca Dancing dress so we would be ready for the talent show. Gramma said I was a shoe in for first place because the rest of the participants were too lazy to practice. After the Mexican dance, we both put on our Jamaican outfits and I put on my tap shoes. I can really dance with my tap shoes on and Gramma said that was sure to seal the deal because she knew for a fact that no one else had any props.Sunday, March 28, 2010
My last dance lesson for awhile

Dressed for Success
I like to dress myself and go outside. I looked pretty in my dress from Nicaragua and my Texas boots from Uncle Kerry and Auntie Maria, but Mommy said I had to have a coat and hat since it was below freezing outside. Thus, my attire. Gramma said I have a flair for fashion but Auntie Maria emailed back saying I have a flair for the flamboyant. Who do you agree with?
Family Cartoons
My parents are finally starting to see the light! Initially, being the good parents that they are, they closely monitored and restricted my cartoon time. But, with the help of Dora and Micky Mounse, I convienced them that cartoons are part of the educational highway, and now, when they need a breather, they see cartoons as the career path. "Yeah, Mickey." "Dora, we did it."

Out again!
No wonder I'm a snow princess. I love the snow! Gramma came along again as my personal photographer and the rest of the crew stayed behind in the warm house. But as Gramma says, "What's a little cold wind when we have a whole big world to explore." However, she drew the line at rolling in the snow, running through the puddles or making snow angels. She's not as tough as she used to be, and she's sure not as tough as me.
It's snowing! It's snowing!
"The snow's coming back! The snow's coming back. Outside! Outside!" Mommy said, "I'm too tired." Grandpa said, "It's too cold." But Gramma said, "Put your coat on!" Five weeks after having a baby, mommy's still out of shape; we need to get her a gift card to the gym. It took her 30 minutes to get me dressed, but by golly, I stayed warm. While Gramma and I trudged through the "elephants," we pretended like we were in the "Him-lalas" where she wants to take me some day if she stays young enough. Sounds like a long shot. Anyway, she told me about the "monkeys" and pointed out the beautiful "monsters." We don't always understand each other's words, but we both like to here the sound of each other's voices. She said I was very brave when I walked across the high swinging bridges, but that was nothing after surviving my Daddy's idea of "spring training" in the swimming pool. Then we walked through deep rivers and up steep snow banks. We watched children playing up and down the high moutains. When we came to the Yak trains, I said "choo choo" and we clung to the inside of the mountain trail. Gramma pointed out Mt. Rest, her favorite, and Mt. Ama Dab where the snow princess lives which is my favorite. We made snow angels, snow prints and snow balls. Then we climbed to the top of the tallest mountain. Finally, Gramma said our trek to the Him-lalas was over, but I said, "No way, Hozay." She thought I was cold, but I wasn't. She said I sounded like my daddy when he was two and crying, "Won't anybody play ball with me." Oh well, she promised she would take me trekking again tomorrow, and I won't forget.

I AM PRETTY.

Today, Gramma and Grandpa had the job of taking me to my school. I insisted on wearing my Nicaragua, Island Dress, but it was cold outside so Gramma, always willing to please, let me wear it over my clothes. I walked in telling everyone I was pretty, but I refused to get in a group picture with the rest of the children. Instead, I posed with the Easter Rabbit.

Alexandra and Baby Drew

I don't know why Gramma Rosie laughs when she looks at this picture. Drew and I are showing our good looks, our indiviuality and our charm. We are keeping everyone so busy that you would think they wouldn't have time to think about who looks like who. I'll never understand adults. On the otherhand, I can't complain because Gramma went out in the wind and rain with me so I coud run through all of the mud puddles on the trail. Finally, my feet were soaked and I got cold enough to tell her, "All done." "Pick me up." Gramma Rosie picked me up and carried me up the "tallest mountain."

The Big Tricks
When Mommy bailed out and headed to the shower, Daddy and I did "the big tricks" that she would have put the cabash on. I'm fearless with my Daddy ready to catch me. I'm sure I could have reached the ceiling; however, as I got braver, Daddy's arms got weaker. He really needs to start training for our adventures if he wants to keep up with me.
Baby Drew watched from the sidelines
I wanted Gramma and Grandpa to swim with us but remembering how they looked in yesterday's pictures, they quickly volunteered to watch baby Drew and take control of the camera. It's not like they're the star of the show; I don't know what the fuss is over. Anyway, Drew was happy to have the attention as he trains for the future.

AJ the Snow Princess

I insisted on wearing my princess clothes outside in the snow because I am a "Snow Princess." I waved my magic wands and granted wishes all along the way. I wished for it to snow again so I can go sledding. I'm an outdoorsy girl who knows how to dress for success. Maria will be jealous of my color coordinated boots.

My First Haircut
Mommy handed me off to my Grandparents for my first haircut. Grandpa Jimmy said it was a no win situation; if I refused, we failed - if it didn't turn out good, we were toast. Remembering how he had to chase me down at the mall the night before, he did not think I would sit still and cooperate. Boy did I fool him. Not only did I sit still, but I was so good that he decided to take the chair next to me. How many grandfathers get their hair cut with their grand daughters. It was a real family affair. Mommy thought it was great. Daddy asked me if they put a red bowl or a blue bowl on my head. I wonder what color of bowl they put on his?

Swimming Progress: I did it, I did it.
Today was full of surprises. First, I shocked the grandparents by blowing bubbles on my own and closing my mouth when I swam. Unlike yesterday, when I refused, no matter how blue and twisted their faces looked as they tried to cox me into it, today I put my face down and blew bubbles on my own and jumped in with my mouth shut. Then, when I saw that they had run out of steam and were no longer cheering me on, my waterwings and I took off dog paddling, made it past the blue line and headed into the deep end. My private instructor was stunned, and I laughed at her as she hustled to catch up. Next, Grandpa Jimmy wanted to sit on the edge of the pool in the sunshine, so I sat next to him and kicked my feet with the discovery that the rays of the sun made the water splash look like ice crystals. I was fascinated for awhile, but soon got tired of the lethargic pace of my grandparents, so I dove in and started swimming away from them. They were quickly thrust back into lifeguard mode. Serves them right for thinking they wouldn't have to chase me in the pool the way they have to chase me in the mall. They're starting to run out of gas, but I have an endless tank at my disposal. I like keeping them on their toes by taking off whenever I feel like it. "Yeah, I'm a big girl now. I did it. I did it."

A Banner Day at the Jeffrey House
My grandparents were so happy yesterday. First, they got to spend the day following me around the pool and play area; then we practiced for next weeks performance, played with my play dough and colored pictures. After that, they got to take care of baby Drew while I napped and Mommy had "free" time. Finally, Daddy came home, lit up the bar-b-cue and the party began. I insisted on eating the first course outside. "What's a little snow on he ground when the sun is shinning?" I was coerced into joining the "light weights" for the second course. Later we snuggled in for movie time. "Dora the Explorer" is my favorite.

Dancing with the Super Stars
I've been practicing for next weeks performance and you are all invited. It's been hard working with a backstage crew who's experience is limited to fields, courts, courses, rivers and mountaintops, but as Rummsfield said: "Sometimes you have to go with what ya' got."
Dancing with the Super Stars
After two hours of swimming and jumping and swimming by myself (with waterwings) to the blue line, I was so tired I had to get out, get my dancing shoes on and practice for our performance. GRAMMA'S MUSIC SELECTION IS ANTIQUE! ANYONE OUT THERE HAVE REAL DANCING MUSIC? As usual, I have to perform under substandard conditions.

CLEARING OUT THE SWIM POOL
THIS MORNING, THE POOL GOT CROWDED. THEN, I STOOD ON THE SECOND STEP, PUT MY HANDS ON THE FIRST STEP, LOOKED BETWEEN MY LEGS, SAW THE WATER RUNNING OUT OF MY SWIM DIAPER AND SAID, "LOOK GRAMMA ROSIE, I WENT PEE PEE IN THE BIG POTTY." NEXT THING YOU KNOW, WE HAD THE POOL TO OURSELVES. GRAMMA SAID, "GOOD JOB ALEXANDRA, THERE'S MORE THAN ONE WAY TO CLEAR A POOL." SHE WAS HAPPY THAT I'M CATCHING ON TO POTTY TRAINING. TOO BAD MY PHOTOGRAPHER HAD GONE TO THE ROOM AND MISSED THE PHOTO OP.

More Swimming
What a day! My grandparents are waterlogged, but I keep dragging them back for more. To their credit, they are becoming experts at staying away from the eye of the camera. So, today you get to see me and Drew by ourselves. He looks so cute! I'm proud of my new baby brother who is one month old today. Yeah!
Good Morning Everyone
My first words this morning were, "I want to go swimming." Gramma said her suit wasn't dry yet. Since Gramma wanted to take a picture of me having breakfast in bed in front of cartoons, Grandpa threw a banana in my bowl so Mommy would think we were eating healthy. They're both worried that I'll tell my parents about Grandpa's infraction at the mall last night. Oh yes, and I had one brief bad spell while sleeping because Gramma forgot to give me some milk before I went to bed. At midnight, hunger struck light lightening. When I cried, "I want my milk," my guilt-ridden grandparents flew into action and soon I had my milk and went back to sleep. Now they've resorted to cartoons to put off getting into their swimsuits. Still, I won't be bought forever. Soon, we'll be back in the pool getting our money's worth out of this place.
Saturday, March 13, 2010

Today has been a long day. We went swimming all morning and again tonight. Unfortunately, Gramma screened out the best pictures of me because she was wearing a swim suit that showed things she said should never see the light of day. Then, Grandpa took picutures of me in the snow but I wasn't smiling because he did such a poor job of putting on my winter attire. I look like Little Orphan Annie before she moved in with Daddy Warbucks. Drew didn't come out much better because Gramma has him crunched up.
